Living Simply in a Yogic Natural Farm
“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.”
-Masanobu Fukuoka, One Straw Revolution
Gioia is Italian for joy. The inspiration came from a chant which repeats in Italian and English: “Joy, joy, joy, ever new joy!”
Joy is a universal quality. It is an aspiration, a goal we seek through many different mediums: a vocation or a job, relationships, hobbies, or meaningful experiences. Joy is the essence of life. I have felt that here at Ananda Farm on Camano Island, which is my home, work place, and life.
I live in a yoga ashram homestead where, with my friends, we practice meditation, natural farming, and living in such a way as to meet most of our daily needs from the land. It is a timeless idea but with increasingly complex times, it is seemingly new. I look forward to sharing my experiences farming with Nature with you.
